Wooden Tea Canister, 2025. :
Three piece cannister, turned from a single log of spalted Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), harvested from a wind felled tree from Abney park cemetary in Stoke Newington. Food safe oil finish on the outside. Inside lacquered with Urushi – a natural finish which comes from the from the sap of the lacquer tree (toxicodendron vernicifluum).

Turned London Plane bowls, 2024. :
These bowls were turned from a single log of London Plane (Platanus x acerifolia) sourced from a private garden in Hackney. The light bowls were finished with a food safe hard wax oil. The darker bowls were lacquered with Urushi – a finish which comes from the from the sap of the lacquer tree (toxicodendron vernicifluum). Urushi is a remarkable natural finish that has been used on tableware for centuries, due to its strength and resistance and is famously used on Japanese rice and miso bowls.

Turned and lacquered wooden cups, 2024. :
Turned wooden cups made from Sycamore, Cherry, Plum and Horse Chestnut logs – each sourced from private gardens in Hackney, London. The outside of the cups were finished with a clear foodsafe oil/beeswax finish. The insides were lacquered with Urushi – a finish which comes from the from the sap of the lacquer tree (toxicodendron vernicifluum). Urushi is a remarkable natural finish that has been used on tableware for centuries, due to its strength and resistance and is famously used on Japanese rice and miso bowls. The cups are suitable for hot (less than 90 degrees C) and cold drinks.
