Anna is a graduate from Belfast School of Art. From her studio in Co. Down, Anna creates thrown, sculptural porcelain vessels, inspired by observation and reflection on life.
Each vessel is a metaphor; a carrier of meaning, and the combination of each skillfully made form with its unique arrangement of spontaneously formed crystals results in a piece which is fascinating and thought provoking.

Joy :
'Joy' pots are small porcelain vessels, wheel thrown and altered to give a sense of movement and fun.
They were inspired by the sound of the laughter of children playing.
Each is decorated internally with a crystalline glaze of various colours.
No two are the same.

White Vessels :
These White vessels are wheel thrown and altered to produce folds, tears and areas of translucence.
They are 'quiet' vessels which lean towards and away from each other as if in conversation or whispering.
In the base of each is a coloured crystalline glaze.

Petri Dishes :
These thrown, porcelain 'Petri Dishes' originated as dishes for testing my crystalline glaze recipes in and evolved into a popular series of decorative dishes, each one unique because of the spontaneous crystal formations.

Fathom :
'Fathom' is a large version of the small 'Petri Dishes' and because of its scale, facilitates several glazes , producing an outcome likened to beautiful marine life found around coastal areas. Living on an island surrounded by the sea has inspired me to develop this series.

Storm at Sea :
Porcelain, wheel thrown vessels, inspired by the sea. They have been altered to convey movement and energy and carved externally to add texture along their contours. Internally they are decorated with a dark blue Crystalline glaze which resonates with the colour of a dark, rough sea.

Fathom :
Porcelain vessels which have been wheel thrown, altered and carved to convey a sense of movement. Inspired by the sea, each contains a crystalline glaze which resonates with some of the changing colours of the sea and the mesmerising effects of the light upon its waters.

Aqua :
'Aqua' is a series of thrown porcelain vessels, altered and carved .They are inspired by the sea and its marine life around coastal areas. The vessels are of various sizes which physically connect with each other by their folds and contours aligning with each other. The crystalline glaze references the colour of the sea.

Solitaire :
'Solitaire' is a wheel thrown porcelain vessel which has been altered and carved externally.
Internally, it has been glazed with a white crystalline glaze in which 'mother of pearl' like crystal formations have formed.
It is a vessel which conveys a sense of strength and inner beauty.
